It doesn’t matter how medical record documents enter Hyland OnBase — they can be imported by fax, through a sweep or uploaded at a centralized scanning center. Once in the system, Intelligent MedRecords, built on the Content Innovation Cloud, uses generative AI and large language models (LLMs) to rapidly separate documents, classify and assign a document type.

If the solution is unable to classify a document, or if it recognizes multiple classifications, it routes the exception for manual review within OnBase. The solution presents all information for verification by HIM staff before exporting documents to the electronic health record (EHR).
